What is the Significance of Community Management?
Martech Outlook | Monday, January 31, 2022
Community management is gaining popularity and recognition among corporations, yet it is still undefined.
FREMONT, CA: Community management can take a variety of shapes. While some organizations succeed with social media, more sophisticated marketers create online communities that accurately represent their brand to their target audience.
Online communities may benefit businesses across the customer lifecycle—but only if they are managed properly. Communities increase stickiness by unifying the brand's presence and making it simple to access all content in one location. They provide a consolidated perspective of the customer journey, beginning with the first piece of material downloaded, continuing via webinars and live events, and ending with becoming a customer. Due to the personal relationship marketers may create with each of their consumers, the engagement with customers and more consistent involvement provided by a community increase retention.

Over time, constantly engaging customers in a community context will result in increased good word-of-mouth, which will result in the brand generating more solid leads. However, the community must be maintained carefully and meticulously; a poorly managed community where consumers' demands are not satisfied will have the opposite effect on long-term success.
A positive customer experience
Providing an exceptional customer experience (CX) pays dividends in increased customer loyalty, revenue, reputation, and referrals. Investing in customer experience projects can double income within three years. Additionally, 86 percent of shoppers are willing to pay a premium for a superior client experience (the more expensive the item, the more they are willing to pay).
The most compelling case for establishing an online community is that providing a branded space for customers to interact with marketers and their peers is one of the most effective ways to improve their customer experience. Having a fragmented brand presence scattered across many third-party channels negatively impacts the consumer experience, primarily owing to inconsistent brand messaging and the inability to access all of the brand's resources in one location. Effective community management ensures that people experience a sense of belonging to the brand, that they are recognized and heard, and that any questions are promptly addressed.
Even better, an established community will include user-generated material. Community members will assume some of the responsibilities of community management staff, such as troubleshooting and assisting new customers in getting the most out of the product.
Consider the following techniques to ensure that the community provides an exceptional experience:
• Consult with customers and prospects when developing a community management approach. They can communicate their interests, needs, themes, and content types that would be most beneficial to them, as well as their preferred times. By tailoring the community to their feedback, marketers can ensure that it starts on the right foot.
• Maintain a consistent schedule of postings and discussions to keep the community's viewers interested and excited to return. Marketers may need to make additional posts at the beginning of the community to stimulate growth and encourage members to develop and share their material.
• Consider novel methods to thank community members for their time and engagement. Offer something more than simple 'like,' unique perks or material, free samples, discounts, early access, or exclusive events. Member spotlights can motivate individuals to take an active role in their community and engage with one another. Additionally, marketers can help members' reputations by encouraging them to contribute consistently or provide expert opinions.
• Today's audience values transparency and honesty. Trust in social media platforms is eroding, with 31 percent of Internet users doubting the content provided there. A sales pitch may be recognized from a mile away. Ascertain that the content published inside the community is beneficial to its members. By using expertise, contributing to discussions, and providing exclusive insights, marketers may claim ownership of the space in which they specialize.
