Seventy-three percent of event planners are offering hybrid or online events in 2023, according to a recent Interprefy report. The increased standards for online events mean audiences are less tolerant of mistakes, increasing the pressure on event managers.
The year 2023 brought new challenges, new trends, and new innovations. The event planners need to embrace a few significant key changes to create successful, memorable events.
Safety both online and offline: According to an Interprefy study, over three-quarters (78 percent) of event planners see alleviating participant concerns over COVID safety as crucial for hybrid events during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The security of attendee and speaker data is another top concern for organizers of online events, even though attendees can attend from the comfort of their homes.
Virtual events can be accessed from any device, software program, or account. Making sure that the staff is trained on cybersecurity best practices, using two-factor authentication, and knowing how to spot suspicious online activities is crucial. The next step is to use only reliable platforms and digital tools that meet cybersecurity protocols and accreditations. ISO 27001-compliant companies follow strict and secure frameworks when dealing with data, making them far more trustworthy than non-compliant companies.
Better event experiences will be demanded by audiences: According to 84 percent of event planners, technology plays a major role in enabling new event experiences and enhancing the attendee's experience.
Ticketing online, remote registration, seating, and real-time interpretation all contributed to the overall experience. The more event managers cater to attendees' needs and provide them with ways to better engage, the more valuable and memorable the event will be. Because the success of an event isn't just determined by how many people attend but also by how well those people experience it and how engaged they feel.
Participants want to be able to communicate with each other, ask questions, and engage with speakers. A real-time chat feature can help improve audience engagement as well as provide event managers with crucial feedback and insight. People want answers to their questions, to actively participate rather than just listen, and to make new connections. The use of gamification techniques, such as challenges, points systems, and completion bars, can also turn events into interactive experiences.
