Hi Douglas, can you tell us a bit about yourself and your history in the marketing space?
My experience has always been in the marketing sector in companies from all over the globe. After graduating from university, my first job was actually working as a marketing executive for three-time Formula One champion, Ayrton Senna. It was an exciting way to start my career, working with one of the biggest names in racing at the time, especially straight after my studies!
I’d like to think I’m pretty well versed in the wonderful world of marketing – it’s crazy to think it’s been almost thirty years in the industry since my first gig. I’ve worked for the likes of FMCG for fifteen years, X and r and JCDecaux. However, I’m so excited to stick my teeth into multilocal and fully embrace all things curation!
What is your role at multilocal?
In my new role as Marketing Lead at multilocal, it's my responsibility to help different players understand curation and its benefits for businesses. Curation can make a big difference in day-to-day operations, and I want to show people how powerful it can be, especially when done with the support of multilocal’s experts. I know and see the true potential of multilocal and the success it can bring to businesses and I think it’s important we really show the world what we’re made of.
What first attracted you to become involved in multilocal?
One of the first major contracts I ever landed was within programmatic advertising. It was an incredible experience that left me fascinated by all of the possibilities in the field, so when I was approached to join multilocal, I jumped at the chance to return to my roots. But, it was curation that really put the nail in the coffin for me in the end.
Curation triggered my curiosity. I’d never come across it before, and it’s always exciting to see something new on the market, especially when you’ve been in the industry for a while. It was so intriguing to me and once I learnt the potential that curation can bring to the programmatic space, I was hooked. I was even telling my friends all about multilocal and what they do because I just couldn’t believe the potential!
So you’ve mentioned a lot about curation, what is it and why is there a need for it as a service?
Let me paint you a picture. I want you to imagine you are visiting a new city or country that you’ve never been to before. As a tourist, it can be difficult to navigate a new city. You may want to find somebody who knows the ins and outs of the area, like a hotel concierge, to help you make the most of your trip. The concierge can direct you to all the perfect places in the city that you wouldn’t have otherwise discovered. The concierge will want to learn about your wants and needs and find the perfect places to see to make your experience as great as possible – this way, you can truly experience everything the city has to offer. That is exactly what curation does in the programmatic space.
As a marketer, it can be difficult to know where to best advertise your campaigns. Curation as a service works to understand your specific needs and sends your advertising to the most effective places. multilocal not only delivers your campaigns to the places you want them to go, but also finds new opportunities that you may not have already considered, allowing you to get the most out of your advertising budget and reach your target audience more effectively. Sounds too good to be true, right!?
What do you think is in the future for you and multilocal?
The future for myself and multilocal is to unlock the supply side benefits without the typical hassles and limitations normally encountered in this market. It’s our mission to show that programmatic doesn’t need to be complicated. With multilocal it can be easy, efficient and safe.
As more and more agencies and marketers realise the true potential of curation and the vast array of benefits that multilocal has to offer, there's no turning back. Rather than being just another complex adtech company in the programmatic space, multilocal has the power to simplify everything. It's time for people to catch on!
